Under the general direction of the Director, Application Development and Network Support, the Information Technology (IT) Specialist II is a technical lead within the area of Network Support and provides expert review, analysis and recommendations of all security, cloud, network, and data center concerns. The IT Specialist II takes responsibility for implementation and management of system architecture to support the agency technology environment, custom applications, or off-the-shelf software. The IT Specialist II builds and maintains relationships with technical leads within the division to collaborate and contribute to the division's overall technology strategy. The IT Specialist II develops and maintains relationships with stakeholders such as customers, partners, vendors, and management to support the use of technology to meet business goals and missions. The IT Specialist II will personally implement and manage the most complex or critical security, cloud, network, or data center solutions. The IT Specialist II specifies processes that other staff can follow and build upon, and coaches others on methods and techniques.

This position has a hybrid work setting. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on the Chancellor's Office's evolving telework policy. The Chancellor's Office supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to the headquarters office in Sacramento if an urgent need arises.

Ability to use standard computer and/or office machines for an extended period of time.
