POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the detection of fraud impacting Citizens' claims and policies by providing independent and objective data gathering and presenting, reconciling, and visual analyses.

We are seeking a qualified Intelligence Analyst Intermediate (Triage Analyst) position whose primary focus is to combat insurance fraud using cutting edge fraud analytics software. Join this unit where you will put your investigative experience in the property claims to help identify and prepare suspicious claims and/or insurance applications for further investigation by conducting advanced research and providing investigative handling guidance to others. The ideal candidate has investigative experience specific to property insurance claims, methods of investigation, and an ability to work autonomously as an integral part of our results-driven SIU.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Models ethical behavior and executes job responsibilities in accordance with Citizens core values, ethics, and information protection policies.
  • Conducts data-gathering assignments; plans, designs and develops ad hoc query and data mining of insurance claims, policy, agency, and payment records using available tools and internal data warehouse, including quality assurance of data.
  • Reconcile, interpret, and analyze basic internal and external data sets to support decision-making and detect potential fraudulent trends and patterns involving Citizens' claims and policies.
  • Summarizes and provides independent and objective appraisals of analytical findings using innovative and high-quality data visualization and presents recommendations of results to individual contributors and management.
  • Collaborates with business units across the business unit and IT Department and designs and implements statistical/predictive models and uses cutting edge algorithms to assist with detection of potentially fraudulent activity.
  • Participates in the creation and delivery of fraud awareness training to Citizens' employees, business partners and other stakeholders as necessary to facilitate the identification and referral of potentially fraudulent insurance acts to SIU.
  • May coach, advise, counsel or train less-experienced staff; may also direct the work activities of others, provide input in the Performance Management goal setting and review process.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Intermediate to Advanced SQL or other programming languages like Python and Proficiency in any one of the reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • Ability to review programming code and identify issues or discrepancies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IT audit, data analytics, as well as investigation processes and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of existing analytics system and methods to detect fraud within claims and underwriting.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Identify and resolve issues and identify solutions, utilizing comprehensive analytical skills and demonstrating an attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, and to interact with all levels of management.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills.
  • Ability to communicate highly technical topics to non-technical insurance professionals. Ability to resolve conflicts and create rapport with business partners. Advanced quantitative, analytical, data-analytics and data-mining skills, problem solving, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of software lifecycle, design, implementation, and deployment, including object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Demonstrate the ability to exercise judgement when making decisions.
  • Project management skills.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Bachelor's Degree OR 4 years relevant experience, OR a combination of college education and relevant experience equivalent to 4 years

AND

  • 4 or more years of experience quantitatively analyzing detailed data and/or data analytics, data warehousing, or data mining experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced proficiency with SQL and reporting tools.
  • 5 or more years of experience quantitatively analyzing detailed data and/or programming experience in the P&C insurance industry.
  • Demonstrated broad problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative fields such as Statistics and Economics. Engineering, Actuarial Science or related field OR Master's degree in information technology.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time listen and converse over the telephone and frequently type on a computer (4 or more hours per day).
