Position Summary

Poseida is seeking an outstanding scientist to join the Clinical Biomarkers group within our Clinical Development team. The successful candidate will collaborate across the Research and Development organizations and will be responsible for the design, implementation, and analysis of state-of-the-art biomarker strategies to support our cell therapy clinical protocols. In addition to leveraging their scientific expertise, the Clinical Biomarker Scientist will recruit, develop and oversee external laboratory teams in the generation of biomarker data, contribute to our internal scientific discussion, and ultimately guide the development of our clinical products.


Responsibilities

These may include but are not limited to:

  • Design and execute biomarker research studies to identify and/or interrogate candidate pharmacodynamic and predictive biomarkers based on target biology, efficacy/safety variables, mechanism of action, and patient heterogeneity
  • Collaborate with project teams, external investigators and contract research organizations to evaluate candidate biomarkers in nonclinical models and patient samples. Select, design, and develop biomarker assays for analysis of clinical study samples
  • Serve as point of contact with external laboratories, providing oversight of the development and finalization of agreements, statements of work, sample analysis plans, data transfer specifications and data transfer agreements
  • Monitor ongoing clinical biomarker results and provide timely scientific review of clinical biomarker data (either directly or via partnering with data scientists) to guide project decisions
  • The candidate will be a highly motivated, innovative, and collaborative team player with excellent time management and organizational skills
Requirements

Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • PhD degree or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific area (e.g., immunology, cancer research, computational biology, or related fields) with 5+ years' experience in biomarker and translational aspects of clinical development
  • Training and/or experience in designing, developing, and qualifying biomarker assays (eg, immunohistochemistry, genomics, ligand-binding assays) for deployment in clinical research
  • Broad scientific and/or technical expertise in cell and tumor biology, molecular profiling (genomics, transcriptomics and/or proteomics) across diverse platforms is required; experience in or familiarity with T cell biology and/or cell therapy approaches (eg, CAR-T, CAR-NK) is desirable.
  • Strong scientific background and experience with bioanalytical assay development and validation is preferred; experience in CDx development would be advantageous.
  • Prior role in multidisciplinary projects and teams with ability to integrate cross-functional information is an advantage; in particular, experience or at least familiarity with the general design and conduct of clinical studies and awareness of relevant operational processes.
  • Works effectively in a dynamic operational environment with cross functional stakeholders under tight timelines
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, flexibility and proven capability for creative thinking and proactive problem solving are essential for this role.


Sr. Scientist, Clinical Biomarkers Pay Rate: $119,000 to $152,000

The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience with the industry, education, geographic location, etc.
