Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Santa Rosa, CA
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
Pay: $55.00 per hour

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing building systems to ensure safe, reliable facility operations. This role works under the direction of the Chief Engineer and responds to service requests and emergency situations while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair plumbing, heating, water, electrical, lighting, mechanical, and HVAC systems

  • Maintain boilers, air compressors, controls, and auxiliary equipment

  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor construction/repair work

  • Respond to service requests, emergencies, and fire alarms

  • Complete building inspections and document findings in logs and work order systems (Maximo)

  • Read blueprints and specifications to diagnose system issues

  • Communicate effectively with tenants, contractors, and facility staff

Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Building systems maintenance (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing)

  • Boilers and auxiliary equipment

  • Electric and pneumatic controls

  • Fire and life safety systems

  • NFPA 70 (NEC) knowledge

  • Ability to read blueprints and prepare written reports

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions

  • Exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and mechanical hazards

  • Availability for overtime and emergency response

Additional Information
  • Responsible for assigned tools, keys, and equipment

  • Position subject to inspections and reporting requirements

  • Ongoing safety training required
