We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Technician to support the fabrication, assembly, and modification of aerospace prototypes and production hardware. This role is focused on shop-floor execution and close collaboration with Engineering and Manufacturing to translate drawings, layouts, and concepts into flight- and production-quality hardware. Assignments are often non-routine and require mechanical judgment, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of fabrication processes. Work is reviewed for technical accuracy, workmanship, and compliance with requirements.
Essential Functions
Fabricate, assemble, and modify aerospace prototypes and production hardware using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
Perform layout, drilling, cutting, deburring, fastening, fitting, and finishing operations to aerospace workmanship standards.
Execute sheet metal fabrication tasks including layout, forming, trimming, and assembly.
Perform basic welding and metal joining operations (MIG, TIG, or similar).
Accurately measure parts and assemblies using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools.
Read and interpret mechanical drawings and work instructions.
Provide hands-on feedback to Engineering regarding fit, function, and manufacturability.
Work independently or as part of a fabrication team.
Communicate with Supervisors and Engineers to resolve issues and document changes.
Work with aluminum, steel, composites, and soft goods such as leather and foam.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
2+ years of hands-on fabrication or manufacturing experience preferred
Desired Skillsets
Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort in a fabrication environment
Experience using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
Ability to read micrometers, calipers, and inspection tools
Welding experience preferred but not required
Manual or CNC machining experience is a plus, but not required
Ability to read mechanical drawings and prints
Familiarity with Mil-Spec or aerospace hardware preferred
Willingness to learn and work with minimal supervision
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
