We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to support our growing organization. This role will be responsible for procuring materials, goods, and services required to support business operations while embodying the company’s core values of Deploy Faster, Operate with Confidence, and Design with Purpose. The Buyer plays a critical role in ensuring all procurement activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as contractual requirements.
This role focuses on sourcing reliable suppliers, negotiating pricing and terms, issuing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery while maintaining quality standards and cost controls. The Buyer works closely with internal stakeholders to align purchasing activities with production schedules, inventory targets, and budgetary requirements, enabling efficient execution and thoughtful, purpose-driven decision-making.
What You’ll Do
Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, delivery performance, and reliability to support rapid and effective deployment of materials.
Ensure procurement activities comply with government contracting requirements, including but not limited to FAR/DFARS
Prepare, review, and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policies and approval limits, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and contracts to achieve cost savings and favorable agreements while balancing speed, risk, and long-term value.
Monitor open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery and proactively resolve discrepancies related to quantity, quality, or pricing.
Collaborate with planning, operations, engineering, and finance teams to understand demand and purchasing requirements, supporting well-designed and intentional sourcing solutions.
Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, and documentation in Deltek Costpoint to ensure data integrity and audit readiness.
Analyze inventory levels and usage trends to support optimal stock levels, reduce risk, and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within procurement and supplier processes to streamline workflows and improve performance.
Support supplier performance reviews and corrective action efforts as needed, promoting trust and consistency in supplier relationships.
Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing standards, cybersecurity requirements, and applicable regulations.
What You’ll Bring
Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred
4-7 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel required)
Ability to analyze data, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environments
Knowledge of FAR/DFARS requirements
Knowledge of inventory management, forecasting, and supplier performance metrics
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement principles
APICS/ISM certification (CPIM, CSCP, CPSM) a plus
Must be able to qualify and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
