The Marine Vessel Mechanic position is a highly mobile mechanic position that requires travel to all Brennan Marine locations. This core responsibility of this role is to inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems on Brennan Marine Vessels. This role operates under the direction of Brennan Marines Chief Engineer. The core purpose of this role is to ensure Brennan Marine vessels operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair marine engines (diesel, gas, inboard, outboard, and jet drives).
  • Maintain and service propulsion systems, steering, fuel, and cooling systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, pumps, hydraulics, and onboard equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic systems, PLC, alarms, sensors, and related equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and keep detailed service records.
  • Conduct sea trials to ensure vessels are operating properly after repairs.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and environmental regulations in all repair and maintenance activities.
  • Order and install replacement parts and manage necessary tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with vessel operators, harbor managers, and the Chief Engineer to ensure timely repairs.
  • Primarily field-based: work performed in shipyards, dry docks and onboard vessels
  • Involves exposure to outdoor weather conditions
  • 100% travel along the inland river ways various Brennan Marine sites and dry docks
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in marine mechanics or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of marine diesel and gasoline engines, propulsion systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
  • Valid driver's license; boating license or USCG credentials a plus.
