HDR is currently in need of a Dams, Levees, and Civil Works Business Class Lead in our Des Moines Office. The primary duties will include managing people and projects that involve the planning, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, engineering design, and construction phase engineering services in support of Water Resources related projects. As Dams, Levees, and Civil Works Business Class Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for growing and managing the Dams, Levees, and Civil Works Business Class group/section in the Iowa area. In general, duties include marketing potential clients and existing clients, coordinating with other business classes/sections, ensuring compliance with QA/QC requirements, and other project management and reporting requirements. Other responsibilities include profitability, managing utilization goals, obtaining and assigning appropriate resources to projects to meet budget, schedule and scope requirements. This person will also be responsible for personnel management including performance reviews, recommendations on salary adjustments, staff selection, development and morale, quality control and marketing support.
On some projects, this person will be expected to function as the Project Manager and will be directly responsible for compliance with all internal and contractual requirements associated with producing the project deliverables, QA//QC program compliance, budget and schedule monitoring and reporting and client service management.
Specific types of projects may include levees, dams and hydraulic structures; include urban storm water; fisheries, surface water hydraulics & hydrology, water quality and wet weather regulatory support. The successful candidate will demonstrate an outgoing personality with strong people and organizational skills, with a wide variety of project types and experience with multiple clients.
