Duties:

  • Operate, inspect and functional test a wide range of lasers and amplifiers
  • Assist in ensuring the highest level of quality for all IPGP products
  • Be the driving force for new processes
  • Work as a team to solve problems
  • Develop and build fixtures for standardized testing
  • Create, modify and enforce company procedures

Requirements:

  • One to three years of product test experience in a manufacturing environment with some experience with:
  • Electronics - basic electrical measurements
  • Fiber Optics - including passive devices.
  • Lasers - Up to and including kW class laser devices.
  • Experience with optical and electrical test methods in support of active fiber devices such as fiber amplifiers and lasers.
  • Good working knowledge of Oscilloscopes, Optical Spectrum Analyzers, Photo receivers, and power meters.
  • Familiarity with IPC-610 workmanship standards.
  • Ability to interpret optical and electrical schematics is desired.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills a plus.
  • Ability to strip, cleave, and splice optical fibers.
  • Basic soldering skills and ESD awareness is a plus.
  • General knowledge of Fiber Optic components and test equipment is helpful.
  • QA Experience with data collection and analysis
  • Decision-making and ability to make recommendations based on analysis required.
  • Familiarity in working in an ISO 9001 environment is desired

General:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must understand manufacturing processes.
  • Hand-eye coordination with meticulous attention to detail
  • Candidate must have the ability to work independently as well as contribute to a team effort.
  • Overtime may be required to achieve monthly/quarterly goals.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • ASEE, ASEO, or equivalent experience desired.
  • Must be computer literate.

Physical Requirements:

  • Perform bench testing on active fiber devices and components
  • Estimate of time standing/sitting: 50% each. Chairs are provided at each work station. May have to stand and sit to complete a test on each device. It would be at the operator's discretion to stand or sit for most operations.
  • Lifting requirements:
  • The candidate must be able to routinely lift up to 40 pounds during the day however; most OEM modules weigh =15 pounds.
  • Must be able to work overtime. (1-2 hours/day typical when overtime is needed. Some full day OT may be required.)
  • Transition product from manufacturing to test areas and from test areas to the Shipping area. Candidate must be capable of the same lifting requirements defined above. This involves loading product onto wheeled carts and pushing loaded carts down hallways and/or onto elevators. Carts would then be unloaded in the respective area.
  • Usage of personal protective equipment such as laser safety eyewear (as required) and ESD wrist straps when performing tests of product. Depending on the area, this could be an entire shift (with the exception of breaks).
