Software Engineer Intern - Undergraduate
United States, San Mateo, CA: this position must be completed in a hybrid capacity out of the SIE-PlayStation San Mateo, CA office.
About the Team:
As part of the Platform Data Innovators organization, our team enables PlayStation teams to leverage real-time databases. We are responsible for managing real-time data ecosystems, including Kafka streaming, NoSQL, and RDBMS databases. Our mission is to empower teams with innovative data solutions while maintaining strong automation frameworks, monitoring strategies, and process improvements.
What You'll Be Doing:
Gain an understanding of the end-to-end real-time data ecosystem, including Kafka streaming, NoSQL, and RDBMS databases.
Learn our automation framework and alerting/monitoring strategies.
Develop a customer-obsessed mindset to provide innovative solutions and support to existing users.
Understand and recommend improvements to existing processes.
Collaborate with the team to assess and document data quality for event data, identifying critical areas and next steps.
What We're Looking For:
Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, with an expected graduation date of Spring 2026.
Broad understanding of database concepts and proficiency in one programming language (Python, Java, Go, etc.).
Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership over your work.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Eagerness to learn from and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Ability to navigate ambiguity and bring structure and clarity to complex systems with a can-do attitude.
Eligibility:
Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th.
Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.
Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.
Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
