Position Summary:

The primary function of the Purchasing & Operations Support position will be to support the Area Managers in the functions of operations and purchasing. This position will adhere to and promote safety, corporate policies, and procedures. This person will work closely with the Area Managers to meet mutual goals, assist in other work-related activities as needed, and guarantee the genuine customer service our customers' demands. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of building materials including drywall, insulation, metal studs for drywall, ceiling systems, construction tools, construction safety items, drywall compound, and accessories for the drywall industry.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Purchasing and receiving products from vendors.
  • Negotiating pricing, terms, conditions, and program details with vendors.
  • Billing all invoices to customers and managing sales report.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and control shrinkage.
  • Ability to use company computer system to enter orders.
  • Keeping an accurate pricing record.
  • Developing and maintaining an understanding of market conditions impacting the building materials industry.
  • Develop product knowledge to assist customers with purchases.
  • Provide backup to front counter sales when necessary.
  • Support Area Managers in managing operational costs.
  • Actively anticipate operational risks and create solutions and/or preventative measures.
  • Assist Area Managers with MORA inspections.
  • Play a key role in achieving operations goals set by the Area Manager.
  • Assures compliance with the Safety and Loss Control Program.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Some college or a degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
  • Strong Microsoft office skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 70% of the time.
  • Will occasionally move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to operate basic office machinery.
  • Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
