As an Intern at DN Tanks, you will work with our Engineering, Estimating, and Estimating teams to gain hands-on experience in the exciting field of civil engineering and construction. With a dedicated mentor in the industry you will contribute to real projects, develop valuable skills, and learn about the lifecycle of heavy-civil construction projects, from conception to completion.

The duration of this internship is expected to be Summer 2025 (June to August), however we are able to make adjustments based on your schedule.


Construction Intern Responsibilities:
    • Identify local concrete suppliers and prepare pre-bid/post-bid pricing for concrete/shotcrete mixes.
    • Work with concrete suppliers to develop and trial batch concrete/shotcrete mix designs. Assist Project Engineers with the preparation of detailed project submittals.
    • Develop AutoCAD site layout drawings showing cut/fill slopes, ramps, work roads, crane positions, and casting bed locations.
    • Coordinate with sitework, rebar, crane, and concrete subcontractors.
    • Perform jobsite pre-pour inspections with Project Engineers and Project Managers prior to concrete placements.
    • Visit local construction sites during precast panel erection.
Estimating Intern Responsibilities:
    • Assist Regional Estimators with the evaluation of project site conditions and the generation of tank site layout drawings using AutoCAD.
    • Prepare earthwork takeoffs using Civil 3D and sitework cost estimates using Excel.
    • Solicit bid level pricing for cranes, rebar installation, fence work, and various other subcontractor scopes of work.
    • Preparation of Requests for Quotation after local subcontractors have been identified.
    • Gain insight into the process of developing and bidding construction projects.
    • Visit our local tank construction sites
Engineering Intern Responsibilities:
    • Assist Design Engineers by performing preliminary tank designs, drafting preliminary tank details, reviewing geotechnical project reports, and customizing project specification language.
    • Perform material take-offs of all items needed for construction of final tank designs.
    • Create project specific construction information packages to assist the DN Tanks Construction Department in building a new tank.
    • Provide support in Research and Development projects performed in the Engineering Department.
    • Visit tank construction sites and assist Design Engineers in tank and shoring inspections.
Qualifications:
    • Currently enrolled in an Engineering or Construction Management undergraduate program. A concentration in Civil Engineering is preferred.
    • Experience working with CAD software (preferably AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
    • Good communication and time management skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments.
    • The ability to problem-solve in individual and team settings.
    • Transportation to Littleton, CO.

$23 - $23 an hour
All of our Co-op/Intern students start at $23 per hour for their first Co-Op/Internship with DN Tanks, should you return for a second session, you will receive an increase. This compensation is based on market rates and determined by considering many factors such as external market salary survey data, internal data for comparable roles, and the operational and budgetary objectives of the company.
