Air Liquide Large Industries provides our customers with industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. We are constantly optimizing our supply network to provide high reliability and energy efficiencies allowing Air Liquide to adjust supply needs more quickly and effectively enabling growth to our customers.
How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?The Production Technician position is responsible for day to day operations of the ASU plant located in Hahnville, LA.
Day-to-day safe and reliable operation of the Air Separation Unit (ASU).
Demonstrate an overall understanding of plant safety rules, regulations, and company safety policies/procedures.
Operational checks of equipment, monitoring performance, making and logging equipment rounds, safety and other equipment inspections as assigned, monitoring and permitting maintenance work, equipment isolation, preventative maintenance as assigned, troubleshooting operating issues, reporting process and equipment deviations, log entry, manual control of equipment, and writing and following procedures.
Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), corporate procedures; read and interpret flow charts, process piping ISOs, simple schematics, P&IDs, electrical schematics; perform basic math operations.
Perform operator rounds, sampling, truck loading, operations PM's.
Ensure contractors, visitors, co-workers and others comply with company safety policies/procedures.
Support and comply with all safety, health, and environmental procedures as defined by site and corporate personnel.
Demonstrate knowledge & understanding of control board and operator interface computer consoles.
Keep accurate records and be diligent in documentation and record retention policies and procedures.
Maintain and expect high housekeeping and organizational standards.
Able to multi-task during emergency situations in an independent work environment.
Make suggestions to improve plant safety, efficiency and quality.
Operate the ASU plant in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner.
Develop equipment purging and isolation plans (LOTO) as required.
Prepare equipment for maintenance activities in a safe manner.
Enter work orders into CMMS (Maximo) as required.
Display proper attitudes and work ethics and have the ability to follow directions.
Provide on-call assistance or work additional shifts when required.
Actively participate in training programs.
Develop or revise operating procedures as appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
High school diploma or GED required
2+ years of technical training and/or operations experience
Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts and extended hours/shift work as business needs dictate.
Ability to work nights, weekends and possibly holidays in order to meet shift and on-call requirements.
Ability to use computers with knowledge of Google software
Ability to work in a team environment
Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills in order to deal effectively with management and external customers
Knowledge and understanding of instrumentation, rotating equipment, and piping systems.
Highly motivated, self-starter, with a strong willingness to learn new things.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to wear required PPE safety equipment including, hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, FRC clothing and 4-GAS monitor.
Has full range of motion and ability to lift 50 lbs
Ability to climb and ascend vertical ladders as required and work off elevated platforms/surfaces
Ability to enter and work in confined spaces
Ability to wear a respirator
Preferred Qualifications:
2 year associates degree in a technical field or technical training
