The Maintenance Associate is responsible for performing general maintenance and repair work for buildings and equipment including plumbing, basic mechanical and electrical, basic carpentry, and other building or equipment systems. The Maintenance Associate will assist in overseeing the cleanliness of the BCI facilities, inside and out, such as production floor spaces, break areas, bathrooms, outside grounds, and parking lots. The Maintenance Associate may order and install parts as needed for machine/equipment repairs.
JOB FUNCTIONS Include the following, but other duties may be assigned.
Assist in general maintenance and housekeeping of production areas such as sweeping, mopping, emptying trash containers, removing unused pallets.
Performs work according to standard procedures and manuals (if available).
Respond to maintenance requests and incidents (e.g., spills) and weather-related maintenance events (e.g., salting, clearing sidewalks, etc.).
Troubleshoot and address basic repairs and maintenance including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and painting tasks.
Records maintenance and repair work performed.
Complete all maintenance and repair requests as directed by the management team.
Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
Operate floor scrubber, forklift, electrical pallet jack, and trash compactor.
Deliver and pickup materials, equipment, and other items.
Recycle scrap metals and HAZMAT.
Coordinate with vendors as needed for repairs and maintenance and spare parts procurement.
Use a variety of hand tools and power tools.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
Contribute and support other Maintenance team members by assisting with completing required activities/tasks.
Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
A minimum of two (2) years’ maintenance experience or a trade-related field.
A minimum of six (6) months janitorial/grounds-keeping experience.
Minor experience in residential and commercial plumbing.
Ability to follow directions.
Ability to understand and respond to internal customer needs in a timely manner.
Basic computer skills for maintaining maintenance/work orders.
Basic mechanical and electrical experience.
