The Health, Brain, & Cognition Lab is looking for a motivated research assistant to conduct research examining the effects of health behavior interventions on cognition in middle-aged and older adults.

Responsibilities include study coordination and recruitment, developing independence with cognitive screening and informed consent, monitoring training and assessments, developing independence with computerized cognitive assessments, data entry, and participation in weekly lab meetings. Responsibilities will involve conducting research at both the HBC lab in Iowa City and a satellite site in Cedar Rapids.

This is a great position for getting research experience between undergraduate and graduate school, particularly for those interested in how health and health behaviors impact cognitive and brain aging.

Experience with neuropsychological testing, RedCap, and working with older adults highly desired but not requirements. Bachelor degree and ability to commute between testing sites is required. Pay commensurate with experience.

Position details:

  • 40 hours/week (on average)
  • Minimum of $17/hour, commensurate with experience
  • Submit pay sheet every two weeks
  • Anticipated start date is as soon as June 1, 2024
  • Looking for commitment of 6 months to 1 year, with possible extension
