Job Description

The Events and Hospitality Management department is seeking a Custodian I for the Havener Center and newly constructed Innovation Lab to perform routine, manual work utilizing knowledge of various custodial materials, equipment, methods, and procedures used in maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly building. Work is subject to spot-checking for neatness, cleanliness, and workmanship with periodic review for overall effectiveness. Functional contacts include co-workers, service department employees, and all personnel utilizing building facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in the care and cleaning of the Havener Center and Innovation Lab (conference rooms, offices, classrooms, entryways, restrooms, and dock)
  • Clean floors (sweep, mop, wax, vacuum, extractor), empty trash receptacles, dust furniture, clean windows and windowsills, and other cleaning-related duties
  • Sweep and shovel snow near building entrances
  • Will work in areas requiring special use of disinfectants, cleaning techniques, and sanitation procedures or use of special equipment (e.g., large sweeper, power washers, buffers, floor scrubbers)
  • May assist with preparing rooms for meetings by setting up chairs, tables, and necessary equipment
  • Perform building security duties such as locking and unlocking doors, checking windows, turning lights on or off, etc., and reporting items that need repair to the supervisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Shift

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to read and write.
  • A valid driver's license may be required for certain positions.
  • Ability on a daily basis to:
    • Lift, carry, and set down objects of moderate weight (25-50 lbs.)
    • Grasp broom and mop handles
    • Work around dust and cleaning chemicals
    • Climb stairs, step stools, and ladders
  • Physical strength, coordination and stamina sufficient to perform assigned duties.
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $14.50-$15.00 hourly.


Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
