Essential Job Duties | TheIEP-GTIFoundation Year College Essay Coaches are responsible for meeting one-on-one, in-person with gifted Saudi students studying at NC State for the upcoming academic year. This program is administered jointly by NC State's Intensive English Program (IEP) and Global Training Initiative. Successful candidates will possess: excellent written English skills, knowledge of the current college admissions landscape (STEMprograms preferred), strong organizational skills, the ability to guide students through the unique writing process required for writing university applications, 3-5 years experience in the college counseling and/or college admissions field, proven ability to work with an international population. Position Overview: Coaches will meet, online and in-person at NC State'sIEPoffice in Raleigh, twice weekly with 2-8 assigned members of a gifted Saudi student group on a foundation year program. The fall semester's writing assessments will focus on college application essay writing. This is a non-faculty, "at will", temporary salaried appointment. This contract runs from August, 2024 to January, 2025. The tentative teaching schedule is as follows: August 5 - Aug 23: two 1-hour virtual sessions per student per week. September 16 - December 7: two 1-hour in-person sessions per student per week. December 8 - January 30: one 1-hour online session per week,as necessary. |
