REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES

The Broward County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Systems Network Analyst - Libraries Information Technology. Additional vacancies may be filled from this recruitment for a different location/section within the library system. This position may be assigned to any location/section within the Libraries Division based on operational needs.

The Libraries Information Technology section is seeking a highly talented Analyst to provide hardware, software and network support for Libraries systems and network infrastructure.

The purpose of this position is to provide hands-on technical support in a multi-platform and geographically dispersed environment. This position is responsible for helpdesk phone support, troubleshooting, and supporting hardware, software, networking and third-party products. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOS is required. Candidates for this position must agree to work flexible hours and weekend shifts.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a two (2) year degree from an accredited trade, technical or vocational school, college or university with major coursework in computer science or closely related field.
(One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)

Requires two (2) years in supporting users and analyzing computer systems relevant to area of assignment or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses
Must possess a valid Florida Class E driver's license at time of appointment and the ability to obtain and maintain authorization to drive on County business.

Preferences
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, nights, and weekends
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or closely related field
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or closely related field
  • Dell Certified Technician or CompTIA A+ certification
  • Microsoft Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician or equivalent
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Two (2) or more years of hands-on experience supporting public library specific applications including, but not limited to, Integrated Library Systems' clients and EnvisionWare
  • Two (2) or more years of hands-on experience supporting Faronics Deep Freeze
  • Two (2) or more years of hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Windows in a large, geographically dispersed enterprise environment including Active Directory
  • Two (2) or more years of hands-on experience supporting the Apple MacOS software in a large, enterprise environment and familiarity with popular mobile devices from various manufacturers running on Windows, Apple iOS, and Android
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Description:
Maintains, troubleshoots, resolves issues, and provides high level technical support to an agency.
Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Provides technical support to users who are experiencing hardware and/or software issues; manages backup process; sends backup tapes off site and prepares new tapes for next backup; tests and installs applications and new drivers before deployment.

Sets up backup server, clients, groups and media for backup process; updates and upgrades operating system, application software on computers and servers; deploys new computers and servers to replace those broken and/or out of warranty.

Researches, analyzes, compares and applies solutions to many technical issues in our environment; creates and revises procedural documentation for installation of many third party software used; researches technical problems of moderate to high complexity; documents information of assigned incidents and resolutions.

Inventories computer equipment as part of annual hardware replacement project; installs and configures computer equipment as a part of the annual hardware replacement project; prepares systems for staff and public use.

Opens trouble tickets and coordinates with coworkers to resolve the issue; installs configure computer, software, hardware, and network communications, troubleshoots and resolves hardware, software, and network problems.

Performs related work as assigned.
