WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING (ESSENTIAL DUTIES)...

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Staff Accountant to join our existing bilingual Finance Team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager the Staff Accountant will apply accounting principles and processes to maintain schedules, analyze financial information and support the organization's growing operations.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting with 3 or more years' experience, preferably in a non-profit organization, with strong desire to grow the organization and themselves.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

General Ledger

  • Assist in the maintenance of the Center's fiscal records; perform financial analysis of monthly reports using Financial Edge General Ledger
  • Investigate, reconcile, maintain required schedules of balance sheet accounts and record adjusting journal entries
  • Monitoring Accounts Receivable Aging
  • Support Payroll Processing and Accounts Payable as needed
  • Contribute to special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of the Center's fiscal records.

Federal/ State Contracts and foundation grants

  • Understand financial requirements of assigned contracts/ grants and ensure activity is compliant with applicable federal and state guidelines, including expense eligibility and appropriate documentation.
  • Allocate payroll and as needed related expenses to various grants/ contracts
  • Assisting with contract and revenue tracking to ensure revenue is booked accurately and in proper periods.
  • Compile information needed for all government and foundation grants and maintain all supporting documentation.
  • Reporting discrepancies to appropriate personnel for resolution and correct errors prior to submittal reports or other data.
  • Timely and accurate preparation of grant reports and invoices with detailed and professional notes, including monthly grant summary report of unspent balance.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with all grant or contract managers, including timely correspondence.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU...

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business preferred
  • Technically savvy with advanced skills in an accounting software program; in particular report writing.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data analysis and reporting required. For example, Pivot tables, data modeling, etc.
  • Exceptional detail-orientation and ability to accurately follow highly regulated state and Federal guidelines.
  • Effective organizational, presentation and communication skills; both written and oral.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively to meet monthly deadlines; remain calm under pressure.

Other Duties:

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
  • Attending training and meetings as assigned.
  • Adhere to safety policies including participation in fire/disaster drills.
