Weather Forecaster, Mid

Key Role:

Ensure the execution and delivery of detailed weather support for 24/7/365 client operations. Assist with the development and integration of relevant weather data into advanced systems and technologies, and integrate all weather environmental data from a variety of sources to assess current and forecasted weather environments to issue weather products, including alert bulletins and forecast an anomaly assessment. Performs quick-look and forensic assessments to determine the potential for weather impacts to operations, as well as ensures the quality and timeliness of the production process using data or product monitoring tools, as well as assessing the impact to products of missing or erroneous data, to include validating and verifying weather models, products, and Standard Operating Procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with weather forecasting and meteorology

  • Knowledge of real-time weather programs and computer interfaces and oceanographic, meteorological, and space atmospheric conditions

  • Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and theories of meteorology, and the standard practices, methods, and techniques of the occupation sufficient to perform observations, forecasts, and analysis

  • Knowledge of analytical principles, concepts, and methods to produce detailed analyses of complex information or situations attained from multiple sources, to include database manipulation

  • Ability to quickly identify and respond to anomalous weather environments

  • Ability to adapt scientific techniques to emerging tools, data, models and equipment

  • Ability to plan, organize, and interact effectively with management and scientists to implement recommendations, which may require extensive changes in concepts and procedures

  • Ability to develop forecasts in support of operational clients

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • HS diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with USAF airborne ISR programs

  • Experience with authoring technical documentation and training materials

  • Experience managing or directing a team

  • Knowledge of Joint, DoD structure, organizations and mission/functions, inter-relationships and operations

  • Bachelor's degree Meteorology or related technical field

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
