Position Summary:
The UCI Program in Public Health is dedicated to the achievement of health equity for all populations through research, teaching, service, and public health practice, locally and globally. Championing the principles of evidence-based public health science, the Program's community aspires to understand and impact population-level social, biological, and environmental determinants of health and well-being.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, as part of the finance team, the Financial Analyst is responsible for purchasing, reconciliations and reimbursements in support of the academic and non-academic units in Public Health. The incumbent will work with minimal to moderate supervision to follow policy and procedures implemented by the Program, and University purchasing and procurement standards. Additional tasks may include training student workers on credit card purchasing and reimbursements, opening purchase orders, and contributing to fiscal close. Assist with effectuating other financial transactions, including payroll, GECs. Other duties as assigned, This position is hybrid, based on the Program's flexible work environment.

Required:
  • 1-3 years
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
  • Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to function as a member of a team.

Preferred:
  • Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
