Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. is seeking a Senior Actuarial Associate to drive the business by allowing you to work with a variety of existing and new products. In addition, this role will interact with a wide range of associates within our various business lines as well as our enterprise service areas.

This is a hybrid role working partially in-office and partially from home.

What you do

  • Support the management of Ameritas' inforce life and annuity products evaluating profitability of products.
  • Analyze product cash flow trends analyzing non-guaranteed elements for inforce products.
  • Provide support for annual dividend recommendations for legal closed block entities and open block participating policies.
  • Perform annual Illustrations Model Regulation testing for applicable products.
  • Support ad hoc modeling projects to support the management of inforce blocks of business.
  • Regularly assist the Actuarial Services Unit to provide ad hoc actuarial calculations and detailed illustrations upon request.
  • Provide support across actuarial departments on matters relating to inforce products, leveraging Product Management's expertise.
  • Support actuarial risk management projects as requested.
  • Assist the managing actuary with various modeling and data requests.
  • Support the development of corporate assumptions by providing insights relevant to individual products and inforce blocks of business.
  • Apply high level Statutory and GAAP accounting principles to various cash flow analyses.
  • Present business cases to managing actuaries on various projects.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of related experience
  • Near or new ASA certification or continued progression on actuarial exams toward an ASA.
  • Ability to accurately perform detailed calculations with a general understanding of how those calculations impact higher-level values in the company's financial statements.
  • Ability to clearly and thoroughly document assumptions, decisions, processes and other work performed.
  • Basic knowledge of insurance products and concepts, actuarial theory and techniques, and regulation of the insurance industry.
  • Understanding of advanced financial, mathematical, and statistical concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, written and oral communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using actuarial projection or valuation software (Prophet preferred).
  • Ability to multi-task and switch back and forth between projects as needed.
  • Willingness to learn new software tools and packages.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed.
