POSITION SUMMARY
Ideally based in Williston Basin, the Community Relations Professional is a first-line connection between Devon employees and the citizens, business and civic leaders and public officials. This position is focused on developing local community outreach activities that build the Devon reputation and brand and provide the basis for efforts to protect and improve the public policy environment in which Devon operates.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Work with the Community Relations Director to carry out the company's community outreach programs in the Williston Basin.
* Be a visible and available presence among employees and other key stakeholders, continually developing and improving relationships with them as the first point of contact.

* Work closely with the Three Affiliated Tribes.
* Build and maintain stakeholder relationships, communicate accurate and timely information to key audiences and provide proactive support in the communities where we operate.
* Monitor the local media for community intel.
* Participate in community events and meetings, as appropriate.
* Coordinate strategic community involvement opportunities for field employees, including nonprofit, civic and business organization involvement and board and committee placement.
* Provide communications and support to business unit management and field employees.
* Manage Devon's charitable giving process including the community investment and implementation strategy for the Williston Basin.
* Support relationship cultivation with local emergency responders.
* Help coordinate community engagement activities including tours, visits, presentations and media opportunities within assigned operating areas.
* Participate in field incident management teams and support crisis response efforts.
* Assist with employee communications training programs for the Williston Basin.
* Oversee promotional item inventory and distribution program to support community outreach programs for the Williston Basin.
* Coordinate volunteer activities and initiatives in the area.

* Coordinate and execute the annual giving campaign.

* Cultivate relationships with Devon ambassadors to support community relations efforts.
* Work remotely or potential office in Killdeer, ND
* Travel required; company vehicle may be available

* Assist the Community Relations Supervisor with activities and events in Wyoming operating area (Campbell and Converse Counties)

PREREQUISITES

* A minimum of three years of experience in community relations, public relations, public affairs, communications or related fields.
* Familiarity with the oil and natural gas industry in general; preferably in the exploration and production sector.
* Experience with event planning and managing logistics
* Ability to quickly initiate, improve and maintain stakeholder relationships based on Devon leadership attributes and its corporate values that lead to its role as a respected corporate citizen.
* Solid educational background bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in public relations or communications.
* A proactive approach to gathering information and communicating it succinctly and quickly to executives, managers and employees.
* Excellent writing and verbal skills.
* Ability to continually prioritize efforts in response to changing situations and new information.
* Keen interest in making things happen as opposed to reacting.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Professional appearance and demeanor.
* Demonstration of listed prerequisites in previous employment.
