FUNCTIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title Technical Services

Job Objective The primary purpose of this position is to provide maintenance and mechanical support to ensure continued operation of the facility. The person shall maintain and repair various machinery, equipment, and systems. He/she will work as team members with various departments throughout the facility to attain all various productions and operation goals. Meeting the facility goals, includes, but is not limited to: contributing to the neatness and cleanliness of the facility and always following all established safety guidelines in order to operate safely and prevent accidents from occurring. Able to work at heights requiring the use of ladders or high lifts and/or unusual locations. Must follow established ergonomic body mechanics.

Essential Job Functions

Analytical troubleshooting and repair of the equipment and machinery in all specified areas: Inbound, Mobile Equipment, RSSU area, Outbound and all other areas of the facility. Design and carry out the installation of new equipment and systems (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.) Perform intermediate facilities repairs, i.e. welding/cutting, metal fabricating, repairs to heaters, repairs to supply and exhaust fans, carpentry projects, and any other necessary repairs throughout the facility. Assemble various machinery or equipment by the use of drawings, blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals. Collaborate with co-workers and Advisors to help resolve issues, improve performance and methods, and answer technical questions. Perform other departmental job functions as needed to accommodate changing work load requirements. Required to be licensed to operate RC trucks, Turret Trucks, Fork Trucks, Lowboys, Golf Carts, Scissor Lifts, Genie Lifts, and any other equipment required by department. Keep abreast of department policies and follows all general, equipment and safety rules.

Pay:

$25. (+ $.40 Shift Differential)

Shift: M-Thurs - 3:30 PM - 2 AM

Significant Work Site Measurements

Work site measurements will vary due to; position requires employee's to maintain/ repair equipment in all areas of the 900,000 sq. ft. facility.

Hours Worked/Work Environment

The plant is clean with a comfortable temperature and moderate noise level. This position operates three shifts. The first shift is ten hours, four days per week. The second shift is ten hours for four days per week. The weekend shift is twelve hours three days per week. This position requires overtime on Saturday and Sunday, up to 8 hours per day, as frequent as 6 months per year.

Standing: (Frequently) This job is performed in a standing position on rubber floor mat or concrete for up to 2 1/2 hours per interval.

Walking: (Frequently) Walking in short distances for 4-10' are required to perform the activities of this job. (Rarely) Walk up to 3000' to get to equipment/area in need of repair.

Lifting: (Continuous) Lifting to 2-25# from floor to work surface. (Rarely) Lifting parts (up to 100#) from floor surface (32-37" to 72") to place on conveyor.

Carrying: (Continuous) Carrying up to 50# approximately 75-100' to place parts at work area.

Forward-Bending Standing: (Frequently) forward bending in standing position to perform necessary repairs on equipment.

Kneeling, Crouching, Squatting: (Frequent) Kneeling, crouching, squatting to make necessary repairs at 1.5-3ft above ground to floor level. (Occasional) for up to 10-15 seconds may be required to remove unit from under tote conveyor system.

Push/Pull: (Continuous) Pull greater than 80# force to do require repairs on conveyor, equipment, MTU's. Push up to 80# of force to move equipment and/or make necessary repairs.

Gripping: (Continuous) Full handgrip with a force of up to 5# to handle tools. (Occasional) Pinch grip up to 40#.

Rotation Standing/Sitting: (Frequent) Rotation standing 1-45 degrees is required to maneuver around conveyor and work area. (Rarely) Rotation sitting 1-45 degrees to make adjustments necessary changes at computer work station.

Stair/Ladder Climbing: (Occasional) Stair climbing to ascend and descend approximately 24-32 ft. Occasional ladder climbing 1-8 ft for up to 2 hrs.

Climbing: (Occasional) To climb onto conveyor from floor approximately 1-3 ft. to make necessary adjustments at varying levels.

Crawling: (Occasional) Up to 10 ft. to make repairs at ground level.

Reaching: (Continuous) Reaching overhead, above shoulder, forward, backward and sideways to do required repairs.

Elevated work: (Occasional) Work overhead to free unit from elevated location along the conveyor system.

Vision: (Continuous) Good vision is required to read computer, identify appropriate parts and areas for repair and to operate equipment required to perform repairs.

Hearing: (Continuous) Must have adequate hearing to listen to 2 way radio to receive information from various parties in the plant.

Equipment operation: (Continuous) Operating golf cart and various equipment required to perform all necessary tasks related to specific job requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 100lbs on an as needed and occasional basis
  • Ability to work in varying degrees of temperature
  • Able to work at great heights and/ or unusual locations
  • Must follow established ergonomic body mechanics

Education and Experience:

Requires: High School diploma or GED

Requires at least (3) years experience in the industrial mechanical field, and a general knowledge of the other industrial skills; e.g., commercial electricity, electronics, mechanical, welding, and facilities maintenance or an Associate degree in mechanical or electrical technology from an accredited college plus 2 years related industrial mechanical or electrical experience.

Prefer: State Journeyman Electrician's license
