Job Summary:
The head cheerleading coach is responsible for managing and administrating the NCAA DI intercollegiate varsity cheer sports program. This position maintains control and oversight of the overall program budget, recruitment & retention of student-athletes, program travel, and academic success. Maintaining knowledge of and adherence to UCA/NCA and USA Cheer National Safety Standards.
All Athletics staff members are expected to contribute to Bucknell's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinates all activities, such as practices and workouts. Properly preparing participants for sideline and competition events. (25%)
  • Manages cheer squad and mascot appearances in collaboration with other institutional offices, athletics marketing, and fan engagement staff. (5%)
  • Manages the cheer budget and coordinates fundraising efforts. (25%)
  • Supervises and directs Assistant Coach; Collaborates with student-athlete support services (i.e., athletic training, strength and conditioning, etc.) to provide a total student-athlete experience. (10%)
  • Oversee recruitment and retention efforts. Conducts tryouts to select new cheerleading team members (30%)
  • Monitors the academic progress of student-athletes. (5%)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and 1+ year(s) of proven experience in collegiate or competition-level cheerleading programs or 5+ years of proven experience in collegiate or competition-level cheerleading programs
  • Knowledge of USA Cheer rules and safety regulations; USA Cheer Safety Credential (or the ability to obtain within first month of hire);
  • CPR Certification (or the ability to obtain within first month of hire)
  • Experience preparing, monitoring, and maintaining a budget;
  • Effective communicator, well-organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work extended days, weekends, and holidays; Travel may be required.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior Division I collegiate cheerleading coaching experience;
  • Prior competition experience.
  • Fundraising experience to support program/team competition in higher education setting or competition on a national level
  • Spirit program camp/clinic coordination.

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
