Job Summary (include Context and Environment)

Daily and ongoing responsibilities include: planning/scheduling all production, raw material, and finished goods for the Mobile plant through the SAP MRP system. Position will plan, procure, purchase and schedule all requirements while meeting inventory targets. Jobholder will have contact with procurement and vendors on a daily basis for order placement and work with suppliers to obtain optimal scheduling and service for packaging and raw materials. The jobholder will manage a contract distribution center with 4 employees. Other contacts include: Supply Chain Managers, Demand Managers and Planner, Business Managers, Customer Service, Sales Team members, Plant Production Leaders, Rail Road representatives, and Warehouse supervisors and operators. Position will report finished goods and raw material inventory as well as other Logistics metrics. Jobholder will review and analyze open orders to ensure the planned packaging runs satisfy the needs of our domestic and international customers.

Strategic responsibilities include: coordination of internal site-site (Arkema) raw material purchases and transfers. Drive development of raw material annual plan to meet budgetary requirements. Drive development of new product raw material and WIP material strategies including required amounts and storage requirements (i.e., PEKK).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities with % Breakdown:

Logistics Operation Activity - 80%

  • The position is responsible for the conversion of demand plans for multiple products and businesses into plant production schedules.
  • Responsible for establishing raw material requirements, and the requisition of raw materials while meeting plant raw material inventory targets.
  • Jobholder will be responsible for established packaging runs to meet orders that are on the books and for those that are anticipated.
  • Daily review of actual customer orders versus forecast to ensure optimal planning for production, rework, and repacking material.
  • Jobholder is responsible for meeting production needs based on customer orders by providing production scheduling and procurement of raw materials as well as allocating needed logistics department human resources to meet requirements to fulfill production and customer order requirements. This is completed within all plant operating procedures and policies. Also within ISO procedures and S & OP rules.
  • Facilitates the development of plant level contingency planning to respond to exceptions to the production/shipping schedule.
  • Participate in the business' customer-focused teams/processes to share plant operations learnings and leverage best practices.
  • Supervisory - 20%
  • Direct and lead the members of the Logistics group and Meador Warehouse to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant and meet customer deliveries.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to the department personnel
  • Participates in strategic goal setting for the plant.
  • Motivate workforce through visibility and direct contact to ensure maximum safety and productivity.
  • Counsel on performance as appropriate.
  • Identify skills development and training needs to maintain a highly competent workforce.

Complete performance reviews and development plans for all direct reports.

Minimum Qualifications and Education Required

Min Years of Experience

5 Years direct or indirect management of people in a manufacturing environment

Education and area of focus

BS Degree in Business Administration or 10 years of experience in the planning and manufacturing area

Competencies -Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

Strong interpersonal, managerial, organizational and communication skills.

Knowledge of materials management, supplier quality and performance requirements, understanding of the productions processes, SAP and S & OP process.

Knowledge of business methods and procedures and the use of MRP.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Team player who can function efficiently across all departments within the plant.

Open minded to a fluid work environment.

Strong organizational skills in addition to practical knowledge and experience.

Ability to respond/adjust/adapt to critical situations and deadlines, this job has a direct impact on production and inventory.

* Review their work areas for potential losses and Report hazards to the direct supervisor.

* Identify and communicate potential gains or possible improvements to the management system.
