Senior Director, Research & Insights

Job Description

About Your Role:

Dotdash Meredith is looking for a Senior Director of Research & Insights to lead our research strategy for our Health vertical (Core endemic portfolio: Verywell Health, Verywell Mind, Verywell Fit, and Health ). Dotdash Meredith is a top resource in health on the internet, reaching nearly 200 million unique users a month. Our high-quality content is aimed at helping people make decisions, find inspiration, and take action. And our first-party data is at the heart of informing everything we do--and not just on our health sites, but across powerful brands in home, food & beverage, tech, travel, family, beauty, and entertainment (including powerhouses like People, Better Homes and Gardens, Travel and Leisure, and AllRecipes).

This robust first-party data is especially important when it comes to the patient journey--at Dotdash Meredith we don't just see patients from an endemic health perspective; we see and seek to help them as whole humans, understanding how their health journeys connect to and impact their everyday lives and supporting them in those arenas.

As the Senior Director leading this group, it will be your responsibility to build deep partnerships with Dotdash Meredith's cross-departmental leaders including the Health Chief Revenue Officer, SVP of Marketing, group General Manager, and Chief Medical Officer. You will build, support, and enhance strategic research plans across the organization through the use of Dotdash Meredith's unique first-party data, custom primary research, and syndicated/external data sources.

About Your Contributions:

    • Be the expert on and evangelize our brand positioning across the organization to promote revenue growth.

      • Provide the Research point of view in sales meetings, internal meetings, and conferences as needed.

    • Partner with sales leadership and their team by becoming an expert on their business and providing strategic, in-depth, and authoritative insights in line with overall brand and business strategies-whether in response to a single RFP or to grow a larger client relationship.

    • Partner with the Chief Medical Officer and content teams by providing insights and research to help develop a POV for industry thought leadership and editorial programs.

    • Proactive development of industry focused materials to help our revenue and edit organizations identify patterns of opportunity (for edit, insights, or product development) and address how DDM can help with the emerging needs of our advertisers and users.

    • Work with large data sets to synthesize information and draw out key insights

      • Use syndicated, first-party, and primary research findings to guide business decisions.

    • Demonstrate exceptional communication and collaborative abilities- including excellent research storytelling skills that allow you to draw out key insights and communicate them in compelling and engaging ways.

      • It's not about the data--it's about what the data tells us about what our users need. And telling compelling stories based on the data is what will power your success!

  • Build and communicate future strategy and identify opportunities for growth:

    • Possess a profound curiosity to uncover meaningful insights around the needs and nuances of our readers to impact go-to-market strategies and day-to-day tactical wins.

    • Own both short-term and long-term insight roadmaps to drive results for the Health vertical, aligned to the business' strategic plans.

    • Collaborate closely with the revenue, content, product, and marketing teams to provide impactful insights that support their strategic plans, helping to shape those plans as appropriate.

    • Proactively identify opportunities for Research to better support the business.

    • Consistently demonstrate strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Lead and grow the research & insights team to ensure continued excellence:
