Job Summary

Experienced Sterile Processing Supervisor to be in charge of case cart management and needs list in preparation for the following day's cases. Will work with current supervisor on instrument flow thru the department.

Experience and Education
  • High School Diploma required
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Excellent computer skills, intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint is essential.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician and Three (3) years of previous supervisory or management experience is preferred.
  • Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician Certification (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.
  • Must have Certification as a (CER) Certified Endoscope Reprocessor or (CFER) Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor within 90 days of hire.
Job Duties
  • Performs routine daily supervisory rounds in central sterile processing area to ensure that area is clean and operating.
  • Identifies problems and participates in time resolution process prior to seeking assistance from Central Sterile Assistant Manager.
  • Prepares weekly staffing assignments and adjustments as needed.
  • Assists in repair, loan and borrow process of surgical supplies, equipment, and instruments.
  • Assists with performance evaluation and goal setting for central sterile processing staff.
  • Covers during staffing shortages and available during off-shifts for central sterile processing as needed.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with manufacturers, materials management department and central sterile coordinator regarding inventory supplies, equipment, instruments, and vendor returns.
  • Ensures compliance with Central Sterile departmental work attire and personal protective equipment.
  • Ensures that processing supplies, equipment, and instruments are handled properly and ensures that fragile instruments and scopes are handled delicately.
  • Supervises, directs, and coordinates duties and functions of central sterile processing staff. Serves as professional technical subject matter expert, resource person, and/or preceptor.
  • Works closely with the Operating Room Liaisons on instrument and add-on needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Must have extensive knowledge of aseptic technique, sterilization processes, regulatory agency guidelines, and technical knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterilization equipment and supplies.
  • Broad based and extensive technical knowledge of OR case cart processing and extensive technical knowledge of computer tracking, surgical scheduling and instrument bar coding processing required.
Working Conditions

Constant walking, standing, bending turning, and stooping. Pushing and pulling heavy objects. Must be able to lift 25 pounds to include boxes and instrument sets. Demonstrate willingness to respond to all reasonable requests from assistant manager in an appropriate and timely manner Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimums require prior approval of the Vice President for Human Resources Administration, or his/her designee.
