The Legal Counsel role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, focusing on employment and labor law matters such as providing employment counseling, conducting investigations, and supporting collective bargaining negotiations. Additionally, your role will involve non-employment law duties such as reviewing marketing materials, assessing product liability risks, and contributing to global compliance initiatives. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, we offer significant visibility and the opportunity for professional growth within a collaborative in-house environment.
You Will:Advise the Human Resources Department on a range of issues, including concerning employee hiring and discipline issues, reductions in force, labor law, hotline investigations, policy development, and counsel regarding evolving statutory or regulatory employment and labor law issues and related training.
Conduct internal investigations.
Manage the claims and litigation portfolio.
Support Risk Management regarding product liability claims, including claims, litigation and arbitration matters, and conducting product risk assessments.
Provide legal counsel to the Marketing Department on advertising copy and marketing materials, concerning warnings/disclaimers and compliance with applicable legal regulations and laws, and review for legal approval promotions, press releases, point of sale marketing, product instructions and labels.
Monitor environmental laws and regulations with potential business impact and advise partners.
Review and respond to product quality or safety issues.
Advise business clients on legal issues and risks, product development, approval processes, and Company policies and procedures.
Offer legal support and guidance across a spectrum of matters including anti-corruption compliance, CPSC regulations, contract disputes, insurance, and regulatory product and issues compliance.
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
5+ years of litigation experience in a law firm setting with experience providing employment counseling.
Litigation experience should include commercial disputes, employment litigation, and product liability claims.
In-house experience preferred.
Experience in employment law and employment counseling.
Experience with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, WARN, and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act pf 1967, and applicable state laws.
Expertise in litigation strategy and rules of civil procedure.
Experience in product liability litigation; consumer products and/or manufacturing experience a plus.
Deposition experience and other hands-on litigation experience, such as arguing motions.
