Description

Under the direction of the Educational Administrator, the Team Leader is responsible for supervising all teachers and for managing the daily operation of classroom-based services including curriculum development, teaching, IEP planning and reporting, coordination with members of the clinical team, and implementation of individualized sensory diet and behavior management plans to optimize student success. The Team Leader is also responsible for other duties as assigned by Director or Educational Administrator.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Staff Supervision
* Supervises teachers, classroom staff, and students in classrooms and milieu
* Supervises IEP implementation and integration into daily lesson planning
* Manages student and staff scheduling to provide coverage as needed
* Provides guidance for decision making regarding psycho-educational treatment in classroom
* Manages classroom-based issues referred by teaching staff
* Leads weekly academic meetings for teachers and classroom staff

Curriculum and Instruction
* Serves as primary instructor for at least one core academic subject
* Supervises development and implementation of daily lesson plans
* Ensures curriculum is aligned with Massachusetts State Curriculum Frameworks
* Plans and manages weekly field trips for all classrooms
* Develops curriculum as needed, identifies curricular resources
* Proctors state-mandated testing and supervises development of alternate assessment portfolios

IEP Planning
* Supervises writing and editing of IEPs and progress reports
* Represents academic team at IEP meetings; presents IEP to team
* Leads student academic progress meetings as needed
* Responsible for maintenance of student data into IEP software

Clinical Team Coordination
* Serves as liaison to Clinical Team, Milieu Manager, and Educational Administrator
* Assists clinical team with integration of clinical and classroom-based services
* Provides feedback on prospective students to Admissions Coordinator
* Provides academic insight into student treatment planning

Qualifications

Special Education or General Education certification or waiver, Master's degree in Special Education, Education, or related field preferred

Minimum one year of experience teaching special needs

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to serve in a leadership position, providing guidance and decision-making when needed
* Strong teaching ability with challenging students (i.e. Neurodevelopmental Disorders/co-morbid psychiatric disorders)
* Strong classroom management skills for Neurodevelopmental Disorders and co-morbid psychiatric disorders
