Job Description
Job Summary

Assists patrons in the use of library resources and services, maintains the library collections, and supports information literacy through one or more specialized librarian roles.

Essential Duties

Fulfill specialist responsibilities and roles such as information literacy instruction, reference, Open Educational Resources, collection development, research consultation, faculty liaison, systems administration, metadata, cataloging, inter-library loan, archives and record retention, periodicals and serials, knowledge management, or others as assigned.

Create and maintain content in the form of guides, web pages, displays, Open Access Resources, tutorials, FAQ, documentation, etc.

Manage and complete special projects. Serve on teams and committees on the library, college, and professional level, participate in professional organizations, and conduct assessment and research, including assistance with action research for the college.

Investigate, implement, and support new library technologies and resources in a variety of areas which may include instruction, access, and/or bibliographic control.

May participate in the interviewing, onboarding, and training of other staff. May oversee the work of Library Assistant II, Library Assistant I, and Library Aide staff as assigned. May serve as chair of teams, task forces, and other working groups.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Library Science or Information Studies.

Strong information technology skills including knowledge of and comfort with educational technologies, such as presentation and collaboration tools, web course management software, library management systems, discovery applications, and effective search strategies.

Strong writing, speaking, presenting, and interpersonal skills in person and online.

3 years professional library experience with concentration in assigned area(s) of focus.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office/365 applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Springshare applications.

Experience with Worldshare Management Systems (WMS).

Experience with information literacy instruction or other relevant teaching experience.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Ability to pull or push up to 100 lbs.
