The School of Graduate Studies in the College of Aviation at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track, open-rank position with a strong preference in background and expertise in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sustainability, and related areas. We expect the candidate to be interested in and pursue significant opportunities for aviation research in this field that is related to aviation maintenance and airport operations. A strong researcher will be expected to engage with and complement the research being conducted by our undergraduate safety faculty. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, "Overall employment of occupational health and safety specialists and technicians is projected to grow 13 percent from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations."

The department offers a primarily online Ph.D. in Aviation with specializations in Aviation Safety, Aviation Human Factors, Aviation Operations, and Interdisciplinary. The department also offers an MS in Aeronautics, MS in Occupational Safety Management, MS in Uncrewed Systems, and MS in Space Operations in a traditional on-campus format.

The candidate will be expected to teach courses in the master's degree program and/or Ph.D. and act as the chair and/or member of Ph.D. dissertation and thesis committees.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the candidate is required to meet continuing scholarly growth requirements that include publishing scholarly work, actively pursuing and obtaining externally funded research, and presenting work at professional conferences.

The candidate will be expected to fulfill service responsibilities to the university and the profession.

Qualifications

The position requires a doctorate in industrial hygiene, safety, or a closely related degree.
