THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is in search of a dedicated individual to take charge of managing and distributing work among survey crews. As the District Chief of Surveys, you will be tasked with establishing an environment that guarantees transportation surveys are carried out with precision and productivity. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the Surveys District Chief, your role is to create a conducive environment for conducting transportation surveys efficiently and effectively. This involves implementing advanced technology, improving service delivery and quality, and ensuring prompt, courteous, and accurate customer service. Additionally, you will be responsible for enhancing both internal and external communication channels and prioritizing the safety of workers and travelers.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Indiana.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Surveyor 1; or
  • Seven years of responsible experience in a wide variety of surveying assignments, including three years in a supervisory capacity; and graduation from high school. An Associate Degree in surveying or engineering technology may be substituted for one year of non-supervisory experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:
  • Possession of a registered surveyor's license as issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, or possession of a registered surveyor's license obtained in another public jurisdiction under requirements which are at least equal to those of Pennsylvania.

Other Requirements:
  • This particular position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
