About the Job:

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Senior Communications Specialist. This dedicated team member will help develop and drive the organization's corporate communications strategies and keep internal and external audiences informed and engaged across channels. The employee will draft and edit a range of communications materials and manage the communications editorial calendar and corporate style guide. This individual will support internal and subsidiary partners' communication needs, taking into account a holistic view of the company and corporate priorities.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Support the development and implementation of cohesive and creative corporate communications strategies that advance priority business objectives.
  1. Draft and edit a variety of communications materials and products, including talking points, leadership communications, social media copy, press releases, media responses, website copy, scripts, internal messages and more. Convey complex information in clear and simple manner, and ensure all materials align with corporate brand and publication standards.
  2. Provide proactive content planning, including an editorial calendar, to ensure message continuity, prioritization and appropriate placement.
  3. Work with senior leaders and constituents across the bank to carry-out communications strategies. Influence stakeholders as needed to ensure communications are impactful and align with corporate priorities.
  4. Develop and support executive-level forums, such as quarterly employee Town Halls, Senior Leadership Team meetings and other internal events. Manage overall experience for executives, speakers and guests.
  5. Support the organization's internal/external response to crisis situations.
  6. Measure and present results of communication efforts. Use data to track and report results, measure effectiveness, and identify needs.

Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 plus years relevant work experience in communications, PR, marketing or a related field. Candidate should possess experience in implementing high-impact programs with successful results. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills are required. Must have a passion for details.
  2. Experience using specialized computer systems to develop applications for tracking and reporting of data is necessary. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and or PowerPoint/Access needed.
  3. Position requires regular contact with internal and external sources to resolve more sensitive and/or complex problems that require the use of sensible judgment, tact, and persuasion.
  4. Position requires the creative ability to devise communication strategies, including digital skills. Familiarity with information technology, especially digital and video means of communication, is essential.
  5. Position includes exposure to confidential information requiring complete discretion. Must be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with executives and senior leaders.
  6. Ability to multi-task, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  7. Work is under minimal supervision where independent judgment is expected in the interpretation of existing policies and procedures.
  8. May direct or supervise the work of others as needed and when working on special projects.

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.

Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.

Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.
