If so, Lamar's Corporate office is now hiring an AVP of Income Tax to manage the company's income tax provision and compliance. This position will work directly with financial management and supervise various tax professionals and projects within the company.

What we are looking for in YOU:

  • Excellent understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts
  • Ability to discuss and communicate complex tax issues with the project team and client management
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Proficient understanding of the current tax and other accounting laws on a local, state, and national level
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing
  • Ability to use sound judgment

Education and Experience:

  • BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other related field required
  • A Master's degree in a related field is preferred
  • 7-10 years of prior experience working in public accounting or the tax department of a company required
  • Certified Public Accountant designation required

A Day in the Life:

  • Review and direct the accurate and timely preparation of the 10Q and 10K income tax liability footnotes and all supporting schedules and workpapers
  • Review and direct the accurate and timely preparation of the ASC 740-10 and ASC 450-20
  • Direct and review the timely preparation and filing of local, state, federal, and foreign income and franchise tax returns for all Lamar entities including multiple corporations and partnerships
  • Review company tax positions in regard to current and pending legislation to determine current and future tax effects on the company
  • Communicate with foreign, federal, state, and local tax authorities regarding the company's tax positions in responding to notices and audit inquiries
  • Manage the transfer pricing process and applicable reports with outside consultants and review for accuracy
  • Review and evaluate all income tax accounting procedures for compliance and accuracy.
  • Remain informed of current tax developments and effectively apply tax knowledge to internal client situations
  • Manage income tax group of the tax department by leading and directing the work of others; evaluating work; reviewing performance; and providing input into all personnel decisions regarding income tax employees

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • The primary work environment is an office
  • The physical demands for this position include light lifting, seeing (with a focus on reading), sitting more than 50% of the time, talking, and walking
  • Nights spent traveling, away from home, are less than 25%
