THE ROLE:

We are looking for a savvy Data Engineer/Database Expert to join our growing team of analytics experts. The hire will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams.

THE PERSON:

  • Proven experience as a database administrator, database developer, or similar role.
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
  • Strong understanding of database design principles, data modeling, and schema normalization.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Experience building and optimizing 'big data' data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement database solutions to support data analytics requirements, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and other tuning techniques.
  • Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and database documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement appropriate database solutions.
  • Implement data security and compliance measures to protect sensitive information.
  • Troubleshoot database issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in database technologies and data analytics.
  • Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling.
  • Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and other teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Work with data and analytics experts and product teams to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, R, etc.
  • Experience with Azure, DevOps, dbt
  • Experience with AI/machine learning
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools and techniques is a plus (e.g., Python, R, machine learning).
  • Knowledge of Businesses Intelligence

ACADAMIC CREDENTIALS:

BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
