POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a unique research position housed in the Audiology Division where we study translational research in audiology, rehabilitation with hearing aids and cochlear implants. Applicants will be involved in research in the Emerging Auditory Research (EAR) Laboratory, where we study cochlear implants across the lifespan. We do behavioral and evoked potential research as well as longitudinal studies of speech perception. We also work with audiologists to facilitate their active engagement in research that includes data collection but also study design and funding applications. Fellow will be involved with research with humans with cochlear implants and age-matched listeners with normal hearing, computer programming, computational modeling and translational clinical research are involved.

Postdoctoral Fellow will be involved in all aspects of audiology research including data analyses, grant writing, and presenting and writing manuscripts. Because of the clinical and translational nature of the position, the fellow would have the opportunity to practice audiology in our clinical as much as one day per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Read, analyze and summarize published literature

* Review of audiologic and basic physiology and psychophysical data

* Design and execute computational modeling studies

* Undertake relevant coursework if required by mentor

* Attend relevant meetings

* Meet regularly with mentor to review project progress and milestones

* Plan and deliver a seminar on the project

* Take administrative (inventory, purchasing, etc. ) responsibilities in the lab when necessary

* Write reports or submit manuscript(s) to a peer-reviewed journal describing the project and results

* Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Doctoral degree (PhD) in hearing science, audiology, neuroscience, computational biology, biomedical engineering, or another related field. Clinical Certification in Audiology required at start.

  • Strict adherence to company guidelines pertaining to signed agreement on confidentiality of information, compliance with HIPAA, and adheres to organizational hierarchy
