Salary range is $24.03/hour to $52.88/hour, with a midpoint of $36.05/hour. New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Under general direction of the IT Manager, Desktop Services, this position will set up, operate, maintain, and repair sound and video equipment for use in live events, such as meetings, webinars, and distance learning. They may also assist in the production of programs, training events, videos used externally ensuring high-quality AV experiences for both in-house teams and remote participants. This position will be responsible for all hybrid smart conference rooms along with providing secondary support for Desktop Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following duties are a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

  • Install, configure, and maintain AV equipment including projectors, microphones, video cameras, sound speakers, and video conferencing systems.
  • Troubleshoot AV issues promptly to minimize downtime during events and meetings and provide solutions.
  • Conduct regular system tests and maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with IT and Facilities teams to improve AV infrastructure and capabilities.
  • Provide training and support to staff on using AV technology effectively.
  • Manage inventory of AV technologies and best practices.
  • Manage the relationship with chosen vendor for support.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends for events.
  • Frame up remote cameras and then switch between cameras during live weekly Board of Directors meetings using Tricaster video production switcher.
  • Edit, spell check and timely switch lower third banners during weekly Board of Directors meeting.
  • Champions and models Sound Transit's core values and demonstrates values-based behaviors in everyday interactions across the agency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Audiovisual Communications or closely related field and two years experience in AV technology; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Licenses or Certifications:

  • Certifications in AV Technology (e.g., CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I) or related IT fields.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of AV systems, networking, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with team members and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with video conferencing platforms and collaboration tools.
  • Experience with digital signage and integrated AV control systems.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Mac devices a plus.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
