*Hybrid Schedule offered: Monday-Wednesday in-office, Thursday-Friday flexible/remote days.*

Responsible for quality assurance and product safety for Meijer products including but not limited to Meijer Own Brand products. This position requires a specific body of knowledge related to product performance, 3rd party testing, and product compliance which is leveraged to smoothly support the commercialization process including quality planning, quality approval of products, as well as product investigations.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Take a leadership role in cross functional teams to bring products to market through an established commercialization process.
  • Establish Quality Plans which include Quality and Compliance approval requirements for Meijer Own Brand Products.
  • Work directly with vendors to communicate testing requirements and potential product improvements.
  • Develop testing protocols to ensure protocols are designed to ensure compliance to regulatory and quality requirements.
  • Evaluate and interpret test reports during the development and manufacturing phases to ensure Meijer's products meet Product Expectations including safety and compliance.
  • Consult with Compliance team to ensure product compliance including the development of testing protocols, report interpretation and product investigations.
  • Participate in building a strong quality assurance and product safety program that meets Meijer's business needs.
  • Lead and consult on product concern investigations; ability to evaluate product returns, analyze consumer feedback to establish potential failure modes and risk assessment including safety hazards. Work with vendors to drive corrective action or adequate product disposition.
  • Lead the continued development, improvement and execution of Meijer's quality management system.
  • Lead in the development and implementation of Meijer's supplier qualification program.
  • Complete comprehensive product concern investigations, returns and defects providing quick resolution of any issues.
  • Participate in the development of and monitoring processes of 3rd party laboratories.
  • Train, mentor and coach Engineer I's in department to develop Meijer product knowledge base.

What You Bring With You (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferred in a technical field such as engineering, math or science.
  • 4+ years of related experience in a quality assurance, testing and new product development environment, preferably with a retailer or consumer goods company.
  • Has an existing body of knowledge specific to products carried by Meijer.
  • Demonstrated execution of processes and procedures, and collaboration with vendors, contract manufacturers, testing laboratories, third party sourcing agents and regulatory agencies.
  • ASQ certification as an Engineer and/or Auditor (preferred)
  • Broad understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes.
  • Demonstrable Body of Knowledge of company product categories related to product compliance, performance and governmental agency trends and action.
  • Positive, high energy individual, who thrives on building and improving processes and influencing others.
  • Ability to generate accurate work product quickly as requested by business areas.
  • Must be able to work autonomously on key deliverables.
  • Ability to evaluate product offerings and adherence to quality requirements.
  • Experience in product testing and protocol development.
  • Ability to read and interpret testing and inspection protocols and results.
  • Proven ability to independently problem solve, analyze, and assess.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with testing/inspection organizations and regulators.
  • Strong project management, organizational and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
