Assistant or Associate Professor (Tenure-Track) Position - Denton

Responsibilities: This position is a tenure-track, nine-month academic year position with face-to-face core BSPH and MPH faculty responsibilities with the possibility of summer teaching. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to public health; mentor master's and doctoral students; engage in scholarly research, including publishing research and applying for external research funding; engage in multidisciplinary collaborations; and participate in service activities within the department, college, university, and profession. Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position. Preferred start date is Fall 2024.

Required Qualifications: Applicants should have:

  1. An earned doctorate in Public Health (Ph.D. or DrPH) or a closely related field before the employment start date
  2. An MPH degree and/or an earned DrPH from a school of public health or public health program accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH)
  3. A strong potential for or record of academic scholarship as demonstrated by research publications and ability to secure extramural research funding
  4. A commitment to and potential for teaching excellence in areas related to public health, community health, or health education/promotion
  5. Potential for or history of active service participation and/or leadership roles in campus, community, and professional organizations
  6. The ability to work collegially and effectively with faculty, staff, and students from socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications: Applicants are encouraged to have:

  1. Expertise and research interest in rural health, community health, aging, chronic disease prevention, health equity, physical activity, or nutrition
  2. A strong interdisciplinary and collaborative research record
  3. Experience working in a multicultural setting
  4. Experience recruiting and retaining undergraduate and graduate students
  5. Valid and current CHES, MCHES, and/or CPH certification
  6. Experience with acquiring and maintaining CEPH accreditation.
