As our Manufacturing Engineer, you'll be the go-to expert and driving force for implementing and streamlining processes, cutting costs, and boosting quality. Your mission? Build a solid foundation for developing, improving, and implementing programs that slash waste and enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Suggests, evaluates, implements & manages multiple manufacturing projects of a large scope from beginning to end.
  • Review engineering prints, select appropriate tooling, and create programs for CNC machine tools while achieving quality and cost targets.
  • Controls and reduces plant expenses as well as implements cost effective manufacturing - Product Engineering, Design Engineering requirements and overlaying this on existing capacities and capabilities to arrive at a cost-effective workable process.
  • Serves as the technical resource to initiate and improve processes related to Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
  • Evaluates and oversees current and prospective manufacturing processes, in addition to production capacities (capital recommendations).
  • Familiarity with SAP with responsibility for standard hour and process router creation, coupled with serving as site's Engineering Change Notices (ECN's) coordinator.
  • Document what is normal state and then be able to identify actions to correct abnormal conditions.
  • Implements product changes and process changes on the production floor related to risk elimination, cost improvement projects, production demand, workstation design, material presentation, etc.

Basic Qualifications
  • Ability to approach a problem or situation that has not been previously encountered, gather information, make assessments, devise a number of options, recommend and implement the best option to deal with the issue.
  • Strong analytical ability to solve issues such as: manufacturing problems and dimensional or calculation errors.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing (Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Poke-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping, etc.) and root cause analysis.
  • Advanced understanding of machine tool operation and programming, coupled with a solid understanding of plant assembly processes and overall business operations.
  • Competent in advanced blue-print reading including geometric tolerance and dimensioning.
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently with minimal technical guidance, exercising sound judgment. Skilled in managing multiple tasks and delivering on schedule.
  • Proficient in communication and people skills as you will interface with all levels of internal stakeholders, suppliers (assure suppliers component meets application) and customers site visits, meets to establish design specifications with Marketing), as well as any outside agencies, etc..
  • Familiarity with Computer Systems, Autocad, SAP, and Office Software, Project Management.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
  • Fully site based with up to 10% occasional travel
  • US Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, to machining oils/coolants from handling coated tools and containers, and to coolant/oil mists which are below OSHA's permissible levels of exposure.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places when using a ladder or operating the man-lifts.
  • Since it is a manufacturing environment, the noise level is usually loud due to the different machinery being operated (i.e. forklifts, hand tools, machines in other departments) and the testing that occurs. Normal noise exposure in the area ranges from 80-90 d BA, depending upon what area in the plant the employee is working.

Key Competencies
  • Competent in in Lean Manufacturing principles such as Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Poke-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping, and adept in root cause analysis techniques
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving the process forward, as well as initiating and fostering relationships with various team members.
  • Comfortable collaborating directly with team members on the shop floor, thriving in a hands-on environment.
