The Commercial Banking Market Executive manages Commercial Banking functions within a large metropolitan market, develops and implements strategies to acquire new commercial business. The position is responsible for managing sales activities, financial performance, customer experience, compliance, employee effectiveness and engagement. The Commercial Banking Market Executive aligns and develops teams to achieve high performance, implements initiatives and oversees attainment of objectives within their area while demonstrating the Ameris Vision, Purpose, Expectations and Values. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Strictly adheres to Bank Secrecy Act requirements and applies organizational policies and procedures in all activities.
  • Leads market management efforts customizing tactics to analyze the market, identify target groups, develop, implement and track action plans to optimize market potential.
  • Directs business development and portfolio management functions of a team which includes Commercial Bankers and Commercial Banking Assistants; coordinates work cross-functionally with Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts.
  • Implements strategy, assesses and monitors performance, recruits, trains, coaches, motivates, manages and evaluates a team to meet and exceed sales goals as outlined by Bank leadership.
  • Manages the financial performance of commercial banking activities within the assigned market.
  • Ensures profitable structuring of loan and deposit opportunities that optimize credit quality and profitability.
  • Leads sales meetings coaching employees on sales strategies and managing achievement of sales objectives.
  • Manages preparation of accurate, comprehensive, relevant information for the Loan Committee.
  • Informs market leadership of commercial banking activities, performance and prospects.
  • Trains Commercial Banking Managers on leadership techniques and performance management.
  • Approves policy exceptions within authorized limits.
  • Monitors and manages proper documentation, compliance and collection efforts.
  • Monitors the business banking customer experience identifying opportunities for improvement, removing obstacles, providing coaching, resolving problems, implementing processes and initiatives.
  • Represents the Bank in business development efforts, on joint business calls, at networking and community functions.
  • Develops partnerships and collaborates with other line of business leaders to attain mutual goals and better serve customers.
  • Responsible for achievement of market objectives as set by Bank leadership.
  • Practices ethical sales behaviors in accordance with Ameris' core values of Integrity and Honesty; always acts in the best interest of the customer when offering additional products and services.

  • Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Thorough knowledge of banking compliance policies and procedures.
  • Ability to apply thorough knowledge of cost accounting, financial analysis, and credit principles to assess credit viability.
  • Thorough knowledge of banking policies, procedures, products and services.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant geographic market.

Industry and Work Experience:

  • 8 or more years of Commercial Banking experience.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Successful sales management and business development experience.

Academic:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
