Ochsner Health is seeking Board Certified/Board Eligible Primary Care physicians in FAMILY MEDICINE, INTERNAL MEDICINE, or MED/PEDs. Physicians with experience or directly from residency training are welcomed to apply. Prior experience in research is required for this hybrid role. Opportunities exist in rural, urban and suburban settings available throughout SE LA including New Orleans and the surrounding communities. Ochsner Health is an integrated healthcare system with more than 36,000 employees and over 4,600 employed and affiliated physicians in over 90 medical specialties and subspecialties. It operates 47 hospitals and more than 370 health and urgent care centers across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the Gulf South. Ochsner Research utilizes a centralized support network that includes research finance, regulatory, pharmacy, IS, and biorepository. Our centrally trained clinical research coordinators are pooled by medical specialty and provide full-time, experienced support for clinical research trials. Clinician researchers benefit from dedicated administrative and medical dyad leaders, who facilitate research within Ochsner's clinical centers of excellence. A dedicated APP is also available to serve as a Sub-investigator and conduct day-to-day assessments for ongoing trials.

Position Highlights:

  • Outpatient opportunity, limited call, support of large subspecialty network
  • Hybrid role with clinical (80%) and research/principal investigator (20%) responsibilities

Responsibilities for Research Portion:

  • Actively solicit sponsored clinical trials with national and/or international prominence relating to high impact relevant topics in the field of Primary Care/Community Care, Population Health, and/or Health Equity;
  • Function as the Principal Investigator (PI) on assigned studies, including completing and maintaining required research training, participating in trial feasibility discussions, working with the study team to develop recruitment strategies, and performing all study-specific activities assigned to the PI.
  • Engage with Research personnel to provide oversight of research activities to ensure compliance with institutional and government policies, and intervening when necessary;
  • Participate, as needed, in Ochsner Research Organizational, Departmental and Division meetings and activities;
