In this hands-on role, you will be based entirely on-site at our Los Angeles Facility, collaborating closely with the Space Resources Program team. We are on the lookout for a qualified Facilities and Equipment Technician. As such, you will play a pivotal role in operating and maintaining environmental test systems, including vacuum chambers crucial for conducting high-power and high-temperature space exploration technology experiments.

Your responsibilities include ensuring operational excellence and maintaining the highest standards of Environmental Health and Safety during laboratory experiments. You will be in charge of the setup, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment, guaranteeing they fulfill our stringent spaceflight qualification standards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of laboratory instruments and equipment.

  • Ensuring compliance with Environmental Health and Safety standards during vacuum chamber experiments.

  • Coordinating with contractors for facility modifications and with vendors for equipment delivery and service.

  • Managing the inventory of laboratory consumables and chemical waste, including adherence to proper disposal protocols in coordination with Environmental Health and Safety departments.

  • Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).

  • Setting up and operating a range of CNC and manual machining tools.

  • Contributing to a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion within the Agile Hardware Development team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience.

  • Proficient in laboratory setup, including installing analytical instruments and fabrication machinery.

  • Skilled in basic electrical wiring, thermocouple, pressure transducer, and pump installation.

  • Adept at developing and updating SOPs and JHAs.

  • Hands-on experience with a variety of laboratory instruments and equipment.

  • Effective in managing contractor and vendor relations for facility and equipment servicing.

  • Proven ability to manage laboratory chemical waste and compliance with safety standards.

  • Physical capability to move heavy equipment up to 40 lbs as necessary.

  • Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on team collaboration.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. in a relevant field.

  • CAD design and fabrication for custom test support fixtures.

  • Demonstrated experience with large vacuum chambers for integrated testing.

  • Relevant certifications in safety, hazardous material handling, or vacuum chamber operations.

  • Forklift operation experience or certification.

Compensation range for on site CA applicants is $35.52-$49.73
