Job Description

Seeking a problem solver, excited to work in a continually evolving environment, who can provide insightful solutions and improve processes to increase efficiencies across the organization. This role partners closely with Surplus & Specialty Lines' Digital, Underwriting and Operations teams to develop groundbreaking solutions and address the inefficiencies of legacy systems and processes.

The Senior Business Analyst role requires a general understanding of insurance workflows and systems. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, possess an entrepreneurial spirit, have a service mentality, and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

The Senior Business Analyst is a member of the Surplus & Specialty Lines Operations team, which supports Underwriting, Claims and Financial Operations. Surplus & Specialty Lines underwrites admitted and non-admitted General Liability, Auto, and Excess/Umbrella lines of business across multiple industry verticals, including Contracting, Transportation, Energy, Security, and Environmental.

What you will do:

    Identifies opportunities for improvements to workflows and technology; liaise with Digital team
  • Collaborates closely with digital, underwriting and operations to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Assists in defining most effective organization structure as needs, priorities and technologies change
  • Leads small to medium complexity projects including preparing project plans, developing CBAs, estimating resource needs and conducting business impact and readiness assessments.
  • Responds to suggestions and problems as reported by users, system error reporting and monitoring. Gains full understanding of each issue, documents, investigates and resolves it, while involving appropriate parties and providing status updates.
  • Proactively identifies and recommends process improvements and automation opportunities and leads implementation; Leads problem solving sessions with cross-functional groups to design streamlined workflows.
  • Researches innovative solutions by approaching problems with curiosity and open mindedness using existing information
  • Documents processes, including Visio cross-functional workflows and step-by-step guides.
  • Partners closely with offshore and underwriting teams to ensure quality and consistency with current work, as well as, new systems and workflow launches. This includes providing training to impacted staff.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with various business partners across the enterprise. Leverages these relationships to influence business partners and decision making. Ensures proactive communication and engagement with business partners.

What you will bring to C&F:

  • 3+ years' experience supporting underwriting operations and/or claims operations
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
  • Skilled at communicating and presenting to a varied audience.
  • Ability to take ownership and see tasks through to completion.
  • Experience working with and leading associates across operations
  • Lean Six Sigma, Agile (Scrum and/or Kanban) and advanced process mapping skill sets preferred
  • Team player with excellent communication skills to help build sustainable and productive alliances across the organization and across multiple geographic regions, including internationally.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate, prioritize and manage multiple activities or projects throughout the day
  • Experience operating within a diverse and global team composed of staff located in multiple locations and time zones.
  • Willingness to learn from new experiences and new situations.
  • Ability to anticipate client (both internal and external) needs and act accordingly.
  • Attention to detail.

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $55,800.00 to a maximum of $127,000.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee's contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
