The ideal candidate should have past editing and commerce experience, be a creative and quick problem solver, and have a passion for cooking, nutrition, and kitchen products. Culinary school and/or professional culinary experience or qualifications are a plus.

As Senior Commerce Editor, you will be responsible for collaborating with the Editorial Director to edit timely food-related shopping content, onboard and manage freelancer relationships, and manage a small team of staff and contract writers. You will also assist with planning and executing coverage for large sale events, such as Prime Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, as well as track and analyze performance to implement ways to improve monetization over time.

This job requires both analytical and editorial skills to ensure our news/deals commerce content is accurate, inclusive, comprehensive, and accessible to all readers.

About Your Contributions:

  • Assign, edit, and publish stories with help from a dedicated team of full-time editors and writers

  • Work with the Editorial Director to manage an editorial calendar and track assignments, ensuring articles move along on time, while also identifying stories and needs based on seasonality, trends, celebrity finds, bestsellers, product reviews, and more

  • Stay current on trends and new products, maintaining close contact with public relations agencies

  • Utilize our team's analytics tools, as well as resources like Google Trends, Instagram, TikTok, etc. to come up with the next big content ideas

  • Track and use performance data to adjust editorial strategy and programming efforts with a good understanding of basic business KPIs such as growth conversion rates

  • Manage a small team of staff and contract writers

  • Prioritize day-to-day needs alongside short-term, special projects and support your team's goals, while also taking into account organizational priorities and changes

  • Collaborate with and manage expectations of the commerce, editorial, growth, testing and research, and social teams

  • Assist in our testing process, whether evaluating products at home or attending lab testing days

  • Use SEO tools and knowledge of brands to come up with the next big content ideas

  • Attend weekly commerce meetings

About You:

  • 5-7 years of experience writing and editing in the food and wellness space (preferably for a digital consumer brand), including 2 years of experience editing freelance writers

  • Knowledgeable about the voices of Dotdash Meredith's diverse food brands

  • Detail-oriented and deadline-focused with solid editing skills, as well as a deep understanding of commerce, SEO, and news content

  • Comfortable with content management systems and workflow systems
