Job Summary

Manages the activities surrounding Title IX and other compliance functions.

Responsibilities

Coordinates Initial Reporting and Case Investigation Process:

    Serves as a designated reporting option for students and employees alleging sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sex discrimination, racial and ethnic harassment, and disability discrimination.
  • Serves as a first point of contact for our partner offices when reports of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sex discrimination, racial and ethnic harassment, and disability discrimination are made. Ensures proper follow-up with the appropriate parties.
  • Serves as a point of contact for complainants and respondents, including communicating about procedural options and processes, providing information about and implementing supportive measures, and providing information about available resources.
  • Oversees informal resolution processes.
  • Serves as the primary liaison for the case investigation process: coordinates scheduling; serves as a resource for the grievance officers; ensures prompt, thorough, and equitable communication to all parties throughout the process; coordinates all documentation; ensures compliance with law and university policy.
  • Develops, implements, and manages an anonymous on-line reporting system to ensure compliance.

Training and Other Proactive Activities:

  • Develops and coordinates the annual training process for Title IX, sexual misconduct, and racial and ethnic harassment for all students and employees, following up on non-compliance as needed.
  • Develops, implements, and manages the process for training new students and employees admitted or hired during the school year.
  • Develops and implements a regular training program for all grievance officers, responsible officers, senior administrators, first responders, confidential resources, and other constituencies as needed.
  • Partners with other local schools on training, case management, and investigations.
  • Manages the NCAA Board of Governance Policy on Campus Sexual Violence annual reporting process.
  • Leads the Sexual Assault Working Group in partnership with faculty and other key partners on campus with the goal of raising awareness and providing training and other programs and activities designed to eliminate sexual assault at the university.

Policy Administration:

  • Leads and coordinates policy revisions with legal counsel and notification to students and employees regarding policy changes, i.e. employee and student handbook updates, e-announcement notifications, emails, etc.
  • In partnership with the website author, maintains the presence of Title IX and harassment reporting on the Bethel website.

Security Protocols:

  • In partnership with Security and Safety, ensures MOU or participation in sexual assault protocol teams is in place; recommends safety measures as needed. Serves on the RCSAP committee and attends MPCC Title IX meetings.

General Title IX Compliance: Regularly reviews the following areas for Title IX compliance, partnering with the appropriate leader(s) when next steps are needed:

  • Recruitment
  • Admissions
  • Counseling
  • Career development and calling
  • Financial Aid
  • Athletics, including activities such as intra-murals
  • Pregnant and parenting students
  • Discipline (student and employees)
  • Academics and co-curricular activities
  • Employment

Required Skills
  • Must have a proven ability to serve as an efficient and effective liaison between parties.
  • Ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individuals.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to a wide array of audience.
  • A proficient knowledge of Microsoft programs is required, including robust skills in Excel.
  • Must be detailed oriented with proven abilities in managing competing tasks and complex issues.
  • Skills in using sensitivity and tact when dealing with individuals who may be in stressful or difficult situations.
  • Excellent judgement with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Sensitivy and understanding of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Experience

Required Experience:

  • 2-3 years of expereince in human resources or student life.

Preferred Experience:

  • 2-3 years of expereince as a Human Resources Business Partner or Title IX experience.
Education

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Education:

  • Master's degree.
Additional Information

Must be able to work in a sitting position at a computer for extended periods of time.

Hybrid work available, must be able to work in office at minimum 2 days/ week
