The Office of Research Integrity and Assurance (ORIA) supports the Cornell research community by providing guidance on research integrity and responsible conduct of research. ORIA oversees research compliance programs at Cornell in research integrity, financial conflicts of interest related to research, export and import controls, research with live vertebrate animals, human participants, and regulated biological materials. ORIA establishes research integrity and research assurance in the following functional areas: Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee; Institutional Biosafety Committee; Institutional Review Board; Conflicts of Interest; Responsible Conduct of Research; Export Controls; and Research Security.
The Export Controls Office is responsible for helping the University community understand and comply with export control laws and regulations. This position reports to and works closely with the Export Control and Research Security (ECRS) Officer for Cornell University.
Your Mission
As Export Control Associate, you will help to ensure that Cornell research complies with all obligations under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations, as well as various import regulations. You will accomplish this responsibility by supporting a robust, integrated, and effective program of export and import control compliance, working closely with the ECRS Officer and internal Cornell stakeholders to identify and address potential problems, and providing guidance to Cornell staff and faculty with export control responsibilities within their departments.
