Provide effective leadership to team members while assisting with the management of locate activities in the Bismarck and Minot area.

JOB PURPOSE:

Assist in the management of locate activities. Provide effective leadership to team members.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide direction and supervision to the Region's Locate team members to achieve maximum efficiency and potential.
  • Provide timely performance feedback and daily coaching. Perform annual reviews and effectively manage disciplinary and/or performance problems.
  • Oversee work assignments and be responsible for timely and accurate shift scheduling for team members
  • Respond to escalated customer inquiries and apply successful solutions.
  • Coordinate certification and training activities for team members.
  • Maintain the Locate team's fleet of Company vehicles an equipment.
  • Produce timely and accurate reporting.
  • Locate and mark underground wire, lines, and cable; identify and mark locations of new cable to be dropped and buried underground.
  • Retain knowledge of procedure and equipment required to locate existing underground cable.
  • Possess proficiency in the operation of locate and bury drop equipment.
  • Locate and mark existing underground radio frequency cable, fiber optic and distribution lines, etc.
  • Read, comprehend, and utilize cable system maps and plans.
  • Possess knowledge of Midco's safety program (Target Zero), proactive and enforce safety rules and procedures; operate all equipment in a safe manner.
  • Operate and drive a Company vehicle in accordance with all Midco policies.
  • Follow and serve as a role model in displaying Midco's Core Values and Leadership Success Drivers.
  • Adhere to Midco's privacy guidelines to ensure each customer's privacy.
  • Maintain regular attendance as required for the position.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required. Some college or vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years locating experience required.
  • Maintain a current and valid Driver's license and good to excellent driving record. A DUI in the last 5 years disqualifies you from employment in this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and /or carry loads of up to 38 lbs.
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • May be required to work within limited and confined spaces as needed.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works neat moving mechanical parts.
  • The Employee must be able to work in an outdoor environment year-round in all weather conditions. The Employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
  • Employee may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings and weekends as business demands.
