Position Summary:

Join our team as Vallen's LSS Senior Designer Develops Water Based, Suppression Systems, Alarm Systems and/or Fall Protection Systems Designs for industrial customers. You will facilitate the technical consultation for internal and external customers and assists other designers with concept for more complicated Industrial designs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create design for:
    • Industrial Water based design packages using ACAD for the drawings and Hydratec Hydraulic Program for the Hydraulic Calculations.
    • Industrial Suppression System design packages using ACAD for the drawings and Manufacturers Suppression Programs for the Hydraulic Calculations
    • Industrial Alarm System design packages using ACAD for the drawings based on Manufacturers requirements.
    • Fall Protection design packages using ACAD for the drawings based on Manufacturers requirements.
  • Evaluate RFQ's to determine best solution to meet the requirements and provide detailed designs based on that solution.
  • Prepare and attend LSS Projects Water Based Design meetings.
  • Technical resource for LSS Service Groups and Projects Installation Groups
  • Manage customer expectations regarding designs and submittals.
  • Work with LSS Specialists and Senior Designers to coordinate LSS concepts and quotation strategies.
  • Assist other LSS Design team on all awarded project orders.
  • Review all LSS Water Based designs to be sure VSS provides what the LSS Specialist quoted.

Job Qualifications:

* Minimum NICET Level 3 in Water Based Systems Layout, Fire Alarm, and/or Suppression
Systems.
* 10 - 15 years related industrial design experience and/or training; or
* Equivalent combination of education and experience.
* State of Texas Licensed RME-G or Planner in applicable discipline
* Factory Trained in VSS Product Lines or willing to attend trainings
* Experience and knowledgeable in all areas regarding NFPA and Industrial Life Safety Systems LSS requirements and designs.
* Competent in ACAD Drawing Designs and Manufacturer Hydraulic Calculations

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand and walk. Must have the ability to walk at a regular pace for up to 15 continuous minutes. Must be able to work from a standing position for 8-10 hours. Must be able to bend, climb, and stoop as needed for access of equipment to repair and service. The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Must have the ability to climb stairwells up to 15 high. Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders (step, extension, case) up to 24' high. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
